9th Dan Grand Master Mark Giambi

9th Dan Grand Master Mark Giambi, long time student of 9th Dan Grandmaster Young Bo Kong, established the first Young Brothers Taekwondo Centers in Houston, Texas.

 

Grand Master Mark Giambi began his Taekwondo training at the age of twelve, with World Champion Grand Master Yong Bo Kong as his original and primary teacher. Over the years, Grand Master Giambi also met and learned from some of the most prominent and highly respected Korean masters in North America. He also was associated with Taekwondo pioneers like 9th Dan Grand Master Young II Kong, Park Bu Kwang, and their teacher, General Choi Hong Hi, the acknowledged founder of modern Taekwondo.

6th Dan Master Leonel Taño

Master Taño began training at age 13 under Grand Master Young II Kong. He received his 1st Dan in 1990 from Grand Master Giambi and began teaching for him in 1995. He has served as a competition judge in AAU Taekwondo competitions since that time as well, officiating at tournaments each year. Master Taño received his 5th Dan in 2007 and 6th Dan in 2014.

 

Master Taño currently is head instructor for the adult’s program at Young Brothers Taekwondo Center in the City of Bellaire.

4th Dan Master Cory Weatherly

Master Cory Weatherly began Taekwondo at the age of 12 under the leadership of Grand Master Mark Giambi in 2004. By the age of 13, he started competing in various regional and national Taekwondo tournaments with the G-Force Team – Young Brothers Taekwondo Competition Team.

 

Master Weatherly began teaching in 2006 and received his 1st Dan in 2007, 2nd Dan in 2008, and 3rd Dan in 2010. After graduating from high school in 2010, he began his undergraduate program at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated with distinguished honors and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Exercise Sports Science.

 

After graduating college, Master Weatherly returned to Young Brothers Taekwondo. In December of 2014, he received his 4th Dan and became a Master Instructor. He currently teaches the Children Taekwondo Class and Competition Training Program.

Gianmarco Giambi  (Assistant Instructor)

Gianmarco Giambi is ten years old and a fifth-grader at Dickinson Elementary School in Sugar Land, Texas where he maintains straight A’s. He has been practicing Taekwondo since he was 4 years old and practices under the supervision of his father, 9th Dan Grand Master Mark Giambi and his older brother 4th Dan Master Gianni Giambi with the Houston Center for Taekwondo.

 

Gianmarco participated in his first AAU Nationals at the age of five. He is a four-time AAU National champion. This past summer Gianmarco competed in the AAU Nationals as a black belt for the first time. He won gold and was included in the AAU National Jr. Development Team for Taekwondo. Both he and his coach, Master Gianni Giambi look forward to participating with the Team during the 2016 competition year.

Giselle Giambi  (Assistant Instructor)

Giselle Giambi is 14 years old and attends Poly Ryan Middle School in Sugar Land, Texas. Giselle is a 3 time National Champion, 2 time Junior Olympic Champion, Texas State Champion, and 2015 US Open Champion.

 

Miss Giambi began training in Taekwondo at the age of 4, competing and winning her first gold medal at the age of 5. She has been a member of the Young Brothers Taekwondo G-Force competition team since 2009 and practices under the supervision of her father, 9th Dan Grand Master Mark Giambi and her older brother 4th Dan Master Gianni Giambi with the Houston Center for Taekwondo.

Master Aidan Herlong

Aidan Herlong began training with Grand Master Mark Giambi since 2006 at the age of 13. He received his 1st Dan in 2009, 2nd Dan in 2010, 3rd Dan in 2013, and recently received his 4th Dan in May 2017.

 

Master Herlong has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Baylor University in Waco, TX. He is currently pursuing a career in User Experience Design via completing an online boot camp mentorship program by December 2017.

Daniel Garza

Daniel Garza is currently a junior at Challenge Early College High School. He is 17 years old and a second degree black belt. Daniel has been training for almost 6 years.

John Capelli

John Capelli is 17 years old and attends Lamar high school as a junior. He is a 3rd degree black belt and has been doing Tekwondo for 11 years. He is a straight A student and the captain of the Lamar ultimate frisbee team.

Pramit De

Pramit De is a sophomore at Bellaire High School. He is 17 years old currently a first degree black belt. He also enjoys being a member of the Bellaire track team.

Tanner

Tanner began his Taekwondo training at the age of 8 and joined Young Brothers a year and a half later. A 3d Dan Instructor, he is an A.A.U. certified tournament referee and judge. Prior to earning those positions, he competed in 2 Regional Tournaments, winning silver medals and qualifying for Nationals in each.

 

 

Tanner is a National Honor Society Scholar and Honor Roll student at St. Pius X High School and will graduate in 2019.

Jake Iles

is 17 years old and a 3rd-degree black belt. He began practising at the age of 9.
Jake attends St Thomas High School where he is currently a junior and is a member of the basketball team.

is 16 years old and is a 2nd-degree black belt.
